This was one of my very first posts when my Etsy shop was named Feather My Nest Decor! Time Flies and you can now find items at The The Nested Design Company on Etsy
You know that slightly itchy, neutral colored, loosley woven fabric that I always thought of as feed bag material. And, I discovered it being used for home decorating and best of all, Christmas Decorations! Wreaths, ornaments, trees, table runners. pillows, and a host of other ideas!
I was looking for something a bit different for my etsy shop and here it was! Burlap! Who would have thought. I had to make something, so off I went to the local JoAnn’s Fabrics and I discovered that the burlap that I had remembered wasn’t anything like the burlap in JoAnn’s! This burlap came in colors and prints! Green and Red and Tan and Brown, keys prints and polka dots and who knows what else! I have to admit, all kinds of ideas were running through my head, but I stayed focused on my mission, Christmas Decorations!
So, a few yards of green and a few yards of tan–some styro-form shapes, a few vintage fabric scraps and a ton of large head straight pins and I was good to go. I spent some time tracing squares in 3 and 4 inch sizes and cutting them out. Then it was pinch, fold and pin and a few hours later—
This is what I made (I cannot for the life of me remember where I saw the wreath that inspired me, but I am sure I googled Christmas Decorations and saw one similar there.)
Cute, right? now for a neutral one for the rest of the year!
