It’s Spring!
This is my favorite time of year and coming up with new flower pot and container ideas for my yard are always top on my list!
The weather hasn’t been cooperating–it feels more like winter so, instead of being outside, I am scouring the internet finding creative flower pot and container ideas. Not that there’s anything wrong with traditional flower pots, but sometimes its nice to include a little of the unexpected. Here are some of my favorite picks from some of my blogging friends to inspire you to get creative with your plantings this year!

GALVANIZED BUCKETS IN DIFFERENT SHAPES AND SIZES
Look how pretty these plants look in these buckets and pots. I love galvanized anything, It gives a simple, slightly rustic feel. via HGTV
WICKER BICYCLE BASKET
Debbie from Refresh Restyle took this adorable, simple wicker bicycle basket and made this beautiful petunia (or is it million bells) and bacopa filled basket. This is a great example of repurposing!
CHICKEN FEEDER SUCCULENT PLANTER
Pam from House of Hawthornes put together this adorable succulent planter in an old chicken feed container.
SHELF PLANTER FOR HERBS OR FLOWERS
Melissa, the Empress of Dirt, has more garden container ideas than you could possibly imagine! This gem is perfect for herbs or flowers and she gives complete instructions on her blog!
CHALK PAINTED BUCKETS PERCHED ON AN OLD STEP LADDER
Jessica from Mad in Crafts used chalk paint to update her bucket planters and placed them on an old step ladder filled with plants!
TIKI TORCH PLANTERS
Crystal from The Weathered Fox made these gorgeous potted planters with Tiki torches! I love this idea for a deck or patio where there isn’t anywhere to stick the torches and look at all those flowers!
CASCADING PALLET PLANTER BOX
Amy from Her Tool Belt made this planter box. She has the instructions on her blog. It starts out looking a little odd, but look at that payoff. Gorgeous, cascading petunias the size of a large shrub. Talk about impact!
TOPSY TURVY GALVANIZED PLANTER
Jane and Leo from Cottage at the Crossroads have a beautiful yard and lots of gardening ideas. I am in love with this topsy turvy planter made with galvanized buckets of all sizes and shapes!
TRELLIS VERTICAL CONTAINER PLANTER
Better Homes & Gardens shows this vertical trellis with colorful pots hanging in each of the openings. This is a great idea to create a wall for privacy or as shown to decorate a bare area of fence! Where would you put this in your yard?
HYDRANGEA FILLED WHEELBARROW
This!!! This actually caused a little flutter in my heart! Hydrangea is my favorite flower and the wheelbarrow, well–let’s just say that if I lived by Terri from Designing Wilder she may or may not see me sitting in her yard with a cup of coffee every morning just taking in the beauty of it!

PALLET TOOLBOX PLANTER
Donna from Funky Junk Interiors takes old wood, old tools and other “junk” and turn it into fabulous! I love this Rustic and Refined toolbox planter!

This simple crate filled with pots of flowers make a statement! Putting the same flower in large clusters make a huge impact whether they’re planted in the ground or in a container!
Honestly, I could have gone on forever–there are so many beautiful ways to display plants and flowers out there. I hope these favorites of mine have inspired you to create interest and impact and show a little of your personality with your plantings this year. Not your style? Just search for planters in your style and see what inspires you! I plan on spending some time at the flea market to find some “new” old or unusual containers for my plants!
